Plasma coatings

Company Chetra SK s.r.o.uses system Plasma coatings with robot ABB from Germany company Thermico GmbH & Co. KG.

For application by plasma spraying with robot ABB we use a plasma torch A60.

The portfolio of thermal spraying of company CHETRA SK can be found except of technology nanoHVOF also plasma spraying. Plasma spraying technology is based on the burning of the arc between the cathode, which is made of tungsten and copper forming the anode nozzle. The burner is fed into the plasma gas, this gas causes burning arc. It comes from the torch plasma, which reaches temperatures 19726.85 ° C. Coated material in powder form is fed to the burner by a carrier gas. Plasma spraying technology can be applied by spraying of any material.

The advantage compared to nano plasma spraying HVOF is possibility ofcoating ceramic coating The disadvantage is greater porosity and less spraying consistency with the ground.

The main advantages of plasma coatings:

  • greater range of additional materials - Refractory metals, oxides, combinations of alloys, plastics
  • negligible heat affected basic materials - up to 200 °C
  • option to apply coatings in the micrometer and millimeter thickness
  • high power spray

Most of consumables applied materials are based on the oxide ceramics dominated Al2O3. Other oxides Cr2O3, ZrSiO4, ZrO2, MgO, CaO, HfO3, MoO2, they are applied in pure form, or with various dopants.

The use of ceramic materials based on oxides are very wide.
